LIFEWALLA READINGS & EVENTS

'Poetical Word' reading and chat

'Poetical Word' is a non-profit organisation with a mission "to build a community of inspirational individuals to help accelerate us to a bigger and better quality of life."

This is done by promoting the advancement of education through spoken word and poetry. Performances there have included poetry, music prose and rap from artists who are or have the potential to be big hitters in the future.

Poetical Word has received awards and backing from The Arts Council and Mayor of London. The invitation to join 'Poetical Word' for their June event is a pleasure and honour. (30 June 2016)

'Novel London' launch

'Novel London' launched its series of first chapter readings at the Big Green Bookshop. The other authors on the night included Chris Brosnahan, Norma Cohen, Tim Weeks, and Emeka Egbuono whose readings were dynamic.

Norma Cohen, an actress and stage coach by profession, took the authors under her wings in a maternal fashion. She talked each of them through the evening for maximum audience engagement. The performances went without a hitch to a great reception from the audience. The authors compared their journeys and future plans over wine and snacks, between themselves and with the audience. Thanks to 'Novel London' for the opportunity (7 Aug 2015)

Bollywood Fever Festival!

Bollywood Fever opening night 2015 was mesmerising. Director Ravi Kumar's film, A Prayer for Rain, was screened to an incredible reaction. Screening profits went to the Bhopal Medical Appeal (BMA). For the 30th anniversary, 30 print copies of the Advance Reader Edition of Lifewalla were also offered for donations, with profits going to the Bhopal clinics, added to the running figures above. A pre-screening panel talk was hosted by BBC presenters Raj & Pablo, with film experts Ashanti, Shai Hussain, Dr Syed Haider and Ravi Kumar, as well as Tim Edwards from BMA. After the screening Raj & Pablo  hosted a Q&A with Ravi Kumar, Colin Toogood (BMA) and Author Nina Joshi Ramsey (Lifewalla). Thank you to the Bollywood Fever team and Cellar Door for the support and an amazing night! (22 May 2015)

Finale of 'Word on the Street' Festival -London Metropolitan Archives

The Finale of LMA's festival in conjunction with Tilt and Literature Lounge was a true revelation. A collection was launched with hard hitting poetry by Lauren Alleyne that started the evening. A reading of Lifewalla by Nina Joshi Ramsey got a beautifuly engaged and reactive response. Mamta Sagar and Mark Gwynne Jones performed stunning Kannada-English poetry with mind-blowing tabla by Dheeraj Sahai-Mishra. Thank you to London Literature Lounge & Anjan Saha (15 May 2015)

Lifewalla at Keats House

The first reading of Lifewalla by Nina Joshi Ramsey was at Keats House. How fitting! The setting was stunning and the history befitting the literary nature of the evening and the audience. The evening's readings included memoirs, Lifewalla novel excerpts and classical and modern poetry performances. An evening that made people go through the spectrum of emotions within a couple of hours, including sadness, laughter, shock, surprise, embarassment. The night ended with a round of drinks and shawarmas. What would Keats have made of that? We think he'd have joined in! Thank you to London Literature Lounge & Anjan Saha (16 April 2015)
